Christian Health Care Center Professionals to Present at Lecture Series ... Care Conversations: Our Aging Parents "Paying for Care"

Christian Health Care Center (CHCC), Van Dyk Health Care, The Wyckoff Family YMCA, and the Wyckoff Board of Health are jointly presenting the fourth in a series titled Care Conversations: Our Aging Parents … “Paying for Care” from 7 to 9 p.m., Tuesday, March 11 (Weather date is Tuesday, March 18), at the Wyckoff YMCA, Lower Level PR5, 691 Wyckoff Ave., in Wyckoff. Panelists are Yale Hauptman, J.D. Esq., Partner, Hauptman and Hauptman, Livingston, NJ, Elder, Estate and Special Needs Law; Cathy Arcamone, CPA, Financial Services Director, Christian Health Care Center in Wyckoff; Ellen Miller, Medicaid Specialist, Eldercaid LLC (former Supervisor of Passaic County Board of Social Services); and Carol Hertenstein, RN, President, Wyckoff Board of Health. Moderators are Mary Jo Kurtz, LNHA, Administrator and COO, Van Dyk Health Care, Ridgewood, and Denise Dunlap Ratcliffe, LNHA, Executive Vice President and COO, Christian Health Care Center, Wyckoff.

A graduate of Rutgers College and Albany Law School, Mr. Hauptman served for a year as law clerk to the Honorable John C. Stritehoff of the Superior Court of New

Jersey and then established his own firm in 1995. He was joined by his wife, Laurie, in 1998, and they are devoted exclusively to elder and disability law.

Ms. Arcamone joined CHCC in 1991 and is responsible for daily oversight of the billing and collection functions of the entire facility. She is an expert in the Medicaid application process and has assisted many patients, families, and employees through the application process. She has also presented on several occasions on the Medicaid and Managed Care application process.

Ms. Miller has been the owner-operator of ElderCaid, L.L.C. for the past 10 years. Prior to opening her business, she was a Medicaid Specialist for Senior Crossroads of New Jersey. She was formerly a Supervisor for the Passaic County Board of Social Services for more than 20 years, and is an expert on Medicaid regulations, the Medicaid application process, and the governmental programs related to the aged and disabled.

Ms. Hertenstein joined CHCC in 1991 as Infection Control Coordinator. In 1998, she became the Utilization Review Director for the Center’s mental-health division. She represents CHCC on the New Jersey Hospital Association Managed Care Constituency Program and has served as President of the Wyckoff Board of Health since 2012.

 “We are fortunate to have so many talented staff at Christian Health Care Center who can lend their expertise on a variety of topics,” said Douglas A. Struyk, CPA, LNHA, CHCC President and CEO. “We look for opportunities to partner with other organizations to provide education and services to the community.”

             The panel of experts will answer questions about the topics you want to learn about: When and how to apply for benefits; understanding Medicare, Medicaid, and Veterans benefits; Power of Attorney and Guardianship; Elder Law and Estate Planning; and Spousal Asset Protection. The first three Care Conversations programs welcomed anywhere from 50 to 75 community members interested in learning about each series’ topics.

Please provide specific questions or topics at thetime of registration to assure that the panel addresses the topics most pertinent to our audience. Our format will devote most of our time together to question and answer sessions.
