Social Media in Education Parent Connection Wednesday

Event for parents at the Wyckoff YMCA will discuss how the educational landscape is changing, thanks to technology.

Wednesday night, the Wyckoff YMCA is hosting parents and educators for a talk on how social media is changing the educational landscape.

According to a release from the Y, New Milford High School Principal Eric Sheninger, who speaks on the topic across the country, will give a special presentation on the topic.

Sheninger has won numerous technology-in-education awards. He is also the co-author of "Communicating and Connecting With Social Media: Essentials for Principals" and "What Principals Need to Know About Teaching and Learning Science," writer on education for the Huffington Post, co-creator of the Edscape Conference, sits on the FEA Board of Directors, and was named to the NSBA "20 to Watch" list in 2010 for technology leadership.

Presentation attendees can, “Learn how schools and educators are utilizing social media to improve communications, enhance public relations, increase student engagement and teach digital citizenship. Learn how to work with your children to promote safety and create a positive digital footprint,” the release said.

The Parent Connection, “Social Media in Education: What Parents Need to Know” at the Wyckoff YMCA is happening Wednesday, October 16 at 7 p.m.
