Wyckoff Postal Clerk Charged with Stealing Customer's Credit Card

The woman took the card after a resident left it at the post office, police said

A Wyckoff postal clerk is accused of stealing a patron's credit card and attempting to go on a shopping spree at a local store, police said.

Dafnea Carroll, a clerk at the U.S. Post Office on Greenwood Avenue, was charged July 13 with credit card theft and fraudulent use of a credit card after an investigation by Wyckoff police and the U.S. Postal Inspectors, police said.

Carroll, a 41-year-old Newark resident, allegedly stole the credit card after it was left behind by a patron at the post office, and then attempted to use the card to purchase gift cards at an unnamed Wyckoff business, according to police.

But the sale didn't go through - Carroll could not provide the sales clerk with the right zip code, police said.

Carroll was released on her own recognizance.

As a mail carrier I am thoroughly disgusted with Ex-postal worker Carroll. What an idiot.

the union will find a way to get her job back. They will say that since she didn't know that a theft of someone's credit card could cause termination of her job, she gets to keep her job.plus she will be awarded back pay.happens all of the time

In Midland Park a few years back. A carrier was stupid enough to throw out mail in the post office dumpster and was ratted out by his buddy boss. The postal inspectors sat and watched him. He was suspended for 2 weeks in August. The union fought to keep his job and he was payed backed for the 2 weeks. No justice.
