Franklin Lakes Taxes to Increase by $51 Per Average Assessed Home

The Mayor and Council adopted the 2013 budget which falls $1.4 million below the state's 2 percent tax levy cap. The amount to be raised by municipal taxes is $11.02 million, an increase of 1.88 percent over what the 2012 budget brought in. This leaves Franklin Lakes $1.4 million below the State Levy Cap of 2 percent.

Bergen County's weekend gun buybackcollected 1,345 firearms, including 10 assault weapons, along with thousands of rounds of ammunition and a mortar shell, officials said Tuesday. 

The State Farm Youth Advisory Board accepted 3,000 submissions and narrowed it down to what they deemed to be the 200 most worthy causes. Washington was among the finalists. The top 40 will be determined exclusively via Facebook voting.

String of Car Thefts Raises Concerns in Franklin Lakes [Interactive Map]

“I would once again like to remind people lock their cars every night,” said Detective Lieutenant John Bakelaar. “The mistake a lot of people make is that they know there is a cycle of crime and once that cycle seems to end they go back to their old habits.  This is something they need to do always and forever. Lock your cars and don’t leave valuables in your car.”
