Valentines Through the Ages

A collection of love notes, handmade cards and early commercial valentines will be on display Monday morning.

“Love is something people have celebrated always — through wars and hard times, love is the thing that helps people survive,” said Nancy Rosin, president of the National Valentine Collector's Association. “These valentines are the fingerprints of love, the actual things people created or bought or sent, and to me it is a very important emotional chronicle of social development.”

Here's a look at just a few of the 10,000 love notes from the Franklin Lakes resident's collection. She is presenting a talk on the history of valentines at the Franklin Lakes Woman's Club at 11:30 a.m. Monday at the building on Bender Court.
