Unemployed Bergen County Veterans Eligible for Thanksgiving Gift Card
Veterans living in Bergen, as well as Essex, Morris, Hunterdon, Monmouth and Ocean Counties are eligible for $50 Foodtown gift cards
Ed note: Please call the G.I. Go Fund directly about gift cards. The Bergen County Division of Veterans Services is not participating in this promotion, as had been previously stated.
The national rate of unemployment for veterans who served in Iraq and Afghanistan was more than 12 percent in October, according to the U.S Bureau of Labor Statistics. For veterans under the age of 25, that number jumps to more than 30 percent.
To support the many veterans, young and old, who find themselves out of work and unable to provide for their families this Thanksgiving, the G.I. Go Fund, in partnership with Gore Financial LLC, ZBRELLA Inc., and Foodtown Supermarkets, will provide $50 gift cards to veterans and their families to pay for their Thanksgiving dinner.
“Too many of our veterans are going to struggle to provide for their families this Thanksgiving,” G.I. Go Fund Executive Director Jack Fanous said in a press release. “Many people are hurting this holiday season, but it is our veterans, the men and women who risked their lives by volunteering to protect us, that are feeling the most pain. We want to make sure that veterans coming home from war are provided the opportunity to give their families a great Thanksgiving dinner.”
Veterans living in Bergen, Essex, Morris, Hunterdon, Monmouth and Ocean County are eligible to use the gift cards at any Foodtown Supermarket (Click here to find the Foodtown nearest you).

Cards are limited, and will be provided to veterans who are most in need on a first come, first serve basis.
