All Bergen County schools and law enforcement agencies have been alerted of the arrest of a North Bergen man who is accused of stalking teenage female high school athletes at sporting events.
Joseph M. Delpriore, 62, was arrested Tuesday by the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office on two counts of stalking after he allegedly was observed taking photographs of athletes at high school volleyball events. Members of the Bergen County Prosecutors Office Sex Crimes and Child Abuse Unit arrested Delpriore at his home after an investigation revealed that he specifically targeted two female high school athletes at volleyball games held at Northern Valley Regional High School-Old Tappan, Bergen prosecutor John L. Molinelli said.
Molinelli also said in a release that Delpriore would pay to enter events including girls soccer, volleyball, girls tennis, girls track and football games throughout Bergen, Essex and Passaic counties. More than 1,400 photos were found on his camera, Molinelli said.
Delpriore was arraigned Wednesday before Judge Edward Jerejian and is currently being held in the Bergen County jail in lieu of $5,000 bail, with a 10 percent option. As a condition of his bail, the North Bergen man is not permitted on any school grounds and is not to have contact with the alleged victims.
Molinelli has asked school officials to contact law enforcement if Delpriore is seen on school grounds. He drives a 2007 silver Hyundai Accent. Additionally, all schools have been asked to inform parents about the alert.
Molinelli requests anyone with information on Delpriore to call the Sex Crimes and Child Abuse Unit at 201-226-5620.
The Little Falls and Old Tappan police departments assisted the county on the investigation leading to the arrest.
