Fundraiser Goes to the Dogs (and Cats)

Inaugural "Whiskers & Tails Charity Ball" benefits RBARI

More than 125 people let their Friday night go to the dogs -- and cats.

They attended the inaugural Whiskers & Tails Charity Ball, a fundraising event on behalf of Ramapo-Bergen Animal Refuge, Inc. (RBARI), was held Friday, November 11, at the Indian Trails Club in Franklin Lakes.

The gala event included a silent auction, wine pull, dinner and dancing to the sounds of DYMN.

"As the culmination of the shelter's annual fundraising events, the Whiskers & Tails Charity Ball provided a distinctive occasion to celebrate RBARI's generous supporters, while also providing an opportunity to advance the shelter's mission," said Steven Mark, Executive Director of RBARI.  "We were pleased by the response to the event, and we look forward to continue building the Whiskers & Tails Charity Ball as a must-attend event of the fall season."

The evening included the unveiling of the Betty Lou O'Donnell Memorial Fund, established in honor of one of RBARI's most dedicated volunteers and supporters. One hundred percent of the contributions to the Betty Lou O'Donnell Fund will be dedicated to direct animal-related medical costs, such as special and emergency surgery, treatments, medications, vaccinations and spay/neuter.

Sponsors of the Whiskers & Tails Charity Ball were Ray and Marci Hopkins, The Institute for Natural Health & Wellness, Devon Jewelers and Liberty Motorcars.

In-kind sponsors included Todd Rockey Design, McMasters Florist, Kristine M. Boise, Dan Poeschl, Pets-Kids Photography, LLC and Kohler Distributors.

RBARI, located in Oakland, is a no-kill shelter that provides sanctuary for companion animals while they await their permanent homes.
