Bonded Bunnies and Leo the "Lion"

This week's featured pets at the county animal shelter located in Teterboro

This week at the Bergen County Animal Shelter there are many pets who are looking for a great home to call their own but these are the featured pets of the week.

Cats:
The shelter describes Adriana as:
Adriana came to the shelter with Babaloo when her owner passed away. She is about 4 to 6 years old. Adriana is good with kids, dogs and other cats. She is up to date with shots and will get a microchip before leaving the shelter.

The shelter describes Leo as:
Leo is an amazing guy. He is about 7 years old and has lived with dogs before. Leo is calm and sweet. He is up to date with shots. Leo will get a microchip before leaving the shelter.

Rabbits:
The shelter describes Jenna and Jeter as:
This bonded pair (one of each sex) must be adopted together. They were scheduled for their spay/neuter surgery on Feb. 18.

Dogs:
The shelter describes Cinder as:
An adult male medium size dog who was found roaming the streets and was brought to the shelter as a stray. A self-assured Chow/Sharpei mix, we are recommending that he go to a home with prior dog experience or with adopters willing to research/learn the training needs of the breed mixes. He has a very calm and friendly temperament and solicits attention very nicely. We haven't seen a playful side to him but we are sure once he settles in to his new home and becomes more comfortable the true Cinder will appear. Because he is quite confident, which is typical of both breeds, we are looking for a home with children older than 16.

Cinder is now waiting for a family that can provide him with leadership, daily exercise and lots of love. Cinder is very easy to walk.  Potential adopters will need to talk to our veterinary staff about Cinder's medical issues.  Cinder went to the groomer on Feb. 16 and she had great things to say about his temperament and behavior.  Look at that face--how can you resist!

The shelter describes Spunky as:
The blurry pictures should give you a good idea of the energy level of this little Pembroke Welsh Corgi. Spunky lives up to her name. She was given to us with another puppy because her owner had no time for them. This "Spunky" gal comes in at 20 pounds and pulls reasonably hard for a pup her size. But she is nine months old, so training should be a breeze. Very sweet, lively and playful, this youngster should thrive with an owner willing to provide lots of exercise and training.

While we're not ruling out the possibility of a home with children, prospective adopters should be aware that Spunky hasn't yet learned not to jump up on people and that this breed has a tendency to nip heels of running children. If you do not already have breed experience, please research breed characteristics before considering meeting her to see if she is the right match for your family.
