1 Dead in Franklin Lakes Crash

Police: Icy conditions not a factor in Monday afternoon crash

One man was killed in a two-car crash on Route 208 North near Colonial Road in Franklin Lakes Monday, according to police.

The accident, first reported to officials at 2:43 p.m., occurred when a 2004 Chevy van and a truck collided.

Henry Shuart, of Hewitt, 67, was extricated from the van and transported to St. Joseph’s Hospital in Paterson where he was pronounced dead.

The driver of the truck, Christopher Milles, 25, of Garfield, was transported to Hackensack University Medical Center, according to Franklin Lakes Police Lieutenant John Bakelaar.

Police said the cause of accident has yet to be determined.

While roads in the area were icy due to weather, police said that highway conditions did not appear to have been a factor.
