Krautman Signs With Syracuse

  • February 3, 2010

Ramapo High School senior Ross Krautman signed his letter of intent Wednesday morning to play football at Syracuse University.

Krautman, a four-year starter on the team, not only played an integral role in the Raiders' run to the state title this season; he made his mark on the record books, too.

The kicker set a state record earlier this fall for the most consecutive extra points in state history and would finish his senior season with the highest percentage of successful PATs in state history. Krautman, whose brother, Rick, also starred at Ramapo and played for Syracuse, only missed one extra point in four years and tied his brother's school record with a 44-yard field goal this year.

Krautman was one of several Raiders honored for their stellar play following their dream run to Giants Stadium. The All-American earned a BIGTIME High School Football Award and was again an all-county selection by the Bergen Record.

Krautman has called Syracuse his "dream school.

"Nothing is better than kicking in a dome," he said.

Chris Melvin, a recruiting analyst for eliterecruits.com, has said that Krautman will be a "brilliant kicker at the next level."
